Hare system A voting method in which voters ra nk the candidates in order of preference. In the first round, only first choices are counted. If no candidate receives a majority, the candidate receiving the lowest number of votes is eliminated and voting proceeds to the next round. The second choices on those ballots are tallied and those votes are redistributed to each of the remaining candidates accordingly.
