Because of the need to AUDIT voting systems after an elec tion, it must be possible to reconstruct the history of all significant even ts that took place during system preparation, voting and tabulation. Requirements to address sy stem event logging to assist in voting device troubleshooting, recording a history of voting de vice activity, and detecting unauthorized or malicious activity form part of the security coverage of the 2007 VVSG.
