Definition

A PRIMARY ELECTION in which the voter makes a choice of party affiliation while in the voting booth. The voter may select a party, but then can only vote for candidates of that one party. The current selective primary states ar e Hawaii, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
